On the unfortunate occasion you might clip door mirrors with a van travelling in the opposite direction can turn out to be quite an expensive experience.
If the mirror didn’t smash on the initial collision then there’s a good chance it will when it rebounds onto the door frame.
So its worth adding some sort of cushioning to absorb the impact to minimise the damage.
I used a piece of self adhesive 12mm thick neoprene left over from another project.
Anything similar would work as well.
